We Move a Building with Excavator and Barge | S1 EP20

To move any building is no small feat, but to do it with an excavator and barge is on a whole another level! We have company coming to the island! It’s family… and we need a bathroom – stat!

We don’t have time to dismantle our makeshift bedroom before moving it. We will be using an excavator to lift and carry the building to our barge, so we can move it to another part of the island.

This has to happen quickly, because with this group, we’ve gotten the sense that it would be nice for bathroom amenities to be available. Apparently, the ‘his and hers’ plastic bucket arrangement wasn’t as joyously received as we had expected.

So, we are going for it! Instead of taking the time to take down the building and move it in pieces, we are just going to pick it up with the excavator and move it all in one piece. Hopefully.

When we get it to the new build site. Then we need to convert it to a bathroom. So much to do and so little time. We have a few other projects on the go, which include continuing our tiny cabin build.

The problem with this idea is that this little ‘put-it-together’ shed is not meant for heavy-duty use. Maybe not appropriate for a bathroom? We don’t know that yet. It made sense to us, but it is just a shed and we worry the whole thing will just collapse in on itself.

The only way to get the job done will be to use the excavator and the barge in tandem. This poses a few challenges, as you will see.
