Living off grid on a remote island is not for the faint of heart, but it’s the life we’ve chosen. Our days are filled with rustic challenges and friendship as we not only survive, but thrive in our off grid haven. Today, like any typical day, presents us with unique challenges requiring ingenuity, teamwork and a light-hearted spirit to overcome. Notwithstanding a few unexpected hiccups, we have fun working together and after a hard-day’s work, relish the simple joys like making s’mores by the fire.

A long-distance materials supply run finds us returning to the island in the dead of a bitterly cold night, facing thick fog, no moon, no star to steer by, and the task of somehow navigating to the island. Living off grid in the remote wilderness is not easy, but if you manage to overcome the obstacles in your path, it can be incredibly rewarding.
