We finally got our barge to the island! It was a brutal trip, and now we need to remove rust and repaint it as part of our barge makeover as we prep for our maiden voyage.

Well it’s official! Our off grid private island has a name! When we bought this island in 2022, we were wondering what to call it. We asked friends, family and even our subscribers for their suggestions. On our first trip to the island, we discovered it already had a name. Who knew?

In this episode you will meet Clara, one of 12 children of the man who settled on this island many decades ago. Clara and her siblings have fond memories of growing up on the island. We will learn more about the history of the island in a later episode. We are proud to adopt their name-sake in their honour, and we are happy to preserve it for posterity.

So now it begins! Watch us perform our barge makeover for her maiden voyage to the island. We have many decisions to make: Where to moor the barge, where to setup a temporary camp, where to build, what to build, and so forth. It’s going to be so much fun!
