Do It Yourself Transport Challenge – Moving Our Barge Across Canada | S1 E7

We have been challenged and tested many times throughout this adventure so far. We are calling this episode the “Do It Yourself Transport Challenge” for a reason. Loading the barge out of the water onto our trailer for transport across Canada was definitely our biggest and most dangerous challenge so far. While our “Do it yourself” approach has saved us money, it certainly has been the source of a bit of stress.

With no precedent or experience to draw from, we relied completely on a combination of head-scratching and common sense. The result is sometimes sketchy, sometimes wince-worthy and hopefully an interesting chronicle of our attempt to put what is arguably an oversized load onto our trailer.

We went into this totally unprepared. We learned that there are good people in the world and Jeff from the marina was superb. He graciously offered us his experience and equipment, and without either, I honestly don’t know how we would have pulled this off.

And this is just the loading part! After this, the fun part begins… the cross Canada road trip. Will the load survive the trip?? Only time will tell…
