We Start to Build a Tiny Cabin Off Grid | S1 E19

Today we actually start to build our off grid tiny cabin! The day has finally arrived. We have barged over materials and equipment to help us clear the build site and start our off grid tiny cabin build. This is so exciting!

Taking on a do-it-yourself build like this on an off grid island has its own set of inherent challenges. Any missing tools or materials requires an “all-stop”, a boat ride to shore, followed by a long drive to the nearest town to collected what was missed. This adds a whole day to our already rather full schedule. Needless to say, much time is spent planning and anticipating what we need ahead of time.

To further complicate things, we have never done anything like this before, and there are so many decisions to make – all the time. Researching a large amount of sometimes conflicting ‘how-to videos’ bore less fruit than we thought, but those “instructions”, tempered with some common sense, will hopefully help us to produce a safe and secure off grid tiny cabin! It’s all part of the exciting road to accomplish all the we need to and we love every moment of it!
