We need a way to get on and off the island during freeze-up and spring break-up when the ice is too thick to boat through and too thin to walk on…

During the deep winter, the ice is thick enough to drive heavy equipment on. The ice melts around mid May each year. The shoulder seasons are December through January, and Mid March through mid May. It is during these shoulder seasons that the ice is too thin to drive on or too thick to boat through. During this time there is no safe and reliable way to get on and off the island, so we are looking for a means to do so.
