Hard Lessons Learned on our Kubota SVL75-3
So this is me moving our grapple and cement mixer with our Kubota SVL75-3 – and dropping them!! Even so… our little Kubota has easily proven its worth already! We are so pleased to have Pepper in the family. We really don’t know how we would manage without him.

At the Window Store
Excitement fills the air as we finally arrive at the window store to pick up our much-anticipated windows. These windows are not just any windows; they are triple pane windows designed to help keep the cold out during the winter and the heat out in the summer. We loaded them carefully, ensuring they were secured for the long haul back to our off grid tiny house. With a bit of strategic maneuvering, we managed to fit them into our truck, making sure to cushion them properly to avoid any damage during the journey.
Black Bear Encounter
As we made our way back, we had an unexpected encounter with a black bear! Seeing wildlife in its natural habitat is always thrilling, and it brings to the fore the fact that we are living in the wilderness. We’re grateful for our off grid living experience, which allows us to appreciate these beautiful moments while maintaining our homestead on our little island.
Kubota Lesson #1 Learned
Once we returned, it was time to put our Kubota SVL75-3 to the test. However, we quickly learned that handling heavy payloads requires patience and care. Our first lesson: there are no shortcuts when operating machinery like the Kubota track loader. Safety straps are our friends, and we must always think through every move to avoid a tangled mess of metal!
It’s Always Nice When We Don’t Break Stuff
Fortunately, we managed to maneuver the grapple and cement mixer without causing any damage. It’s always a relief when we can complete a task without breaking anything! This time, the Kubota SVL75-3 performed beautifully, making our work much easier. We are learning to be methodical and deliberate, which is essential if we want to avoid mishaps in the future. We slowly setting in to our off grid lifestyle.
Hooking Up the Hydraulics for the Grapple
In our final segment, we focused on hooking up the hydraulics for the grapple. This was a learning experience, as we discovered the importance of understanding the machinery we have and how to properly maintain it. Each step along the learning curve brings us closer to being able to use off grid equipment more effectively and efficiently.
