HUGE Window Wall for Tiny Cabin
This is the day we have been waiting for! Our Tiny Cabin windows were installed and what a difference it has made! We had been living in this cabin without any light except for our solar LED plug ins (even the daytime was dark and so this is just the most amazing thing so far (for us).

Best scaffolding ever!
It is window day! We are finally taking off the plywood and plastic that we secured for warmth. The top three windows are coming off today, and the way we are getting up high is quite interesting. It’s a bit of work, but we are excited to see the sunlight streaming in!
Prepping the rough opening
When we arrived on the island, we had no light whatsoever because the tiny cabin had been boarded up for the winter. Today, we’re prepping for the big picture windows to finally go in! It’s incredible to think that this is the moment we’ve been waiting for.
First window goes in!
We are about to install the first window, and it’s quite heavy! These windows are triple-paned, making them 50% heavier than dual-pane windows of the same size. Thankfully, we have glazier cups to help us handle them. As we position the window, we discover that the rough opening isn’t quite square, but we’ll make it work!
Wow… just WOW!
As we finish installing the first window, the view is breathtaking! The sunlight pouring in is a game changer. We’re so happy with how everything is coming together. This is truly a dream come true for our off grid cabin life!
Our boat is totally flooded!
After the window excitement, we discovered that our boat had filled with water! We quickly got a pump to help drain it. It’s a bit chaotic, but we’re managing. It’s moments like these that remind us of the unpredictability of off-grid living.
How do you spell RELIEF?
After a lot of effort, we finally managed to get the boat pumped out and cleaned out. It’s a relief to see that there was no lasting damage to anything that was sitting inside the boat. Even with this little issue, as we reflect on the day,we are filled with gratitude for the progress we’ve made on our off-grid tiny house.
