Moving the Stove Pipe

Before we can install the window, we need to dismantle the big stove pipe. Ryan is going to relocate it through the ceiling, which means a bit of work. We’ve got to be careful with how the window is treated to prevent any issues.

Cutting Out the Window

To install the window, Ryan must carefully cut through the sheathing after securing it properly. This precaution prevents vibrations during the cutting process, which is crucial for achieving a clean installation. While it may be a bit challenging, it is essential for ensuring the window is installed correctly.

Applying the BlueSkin

Once the window opening is ready, we apply BlueSkin around the frame. This waterproofing measure ensures that if any water seeps under the window itself, the wooden structure beneath the window will stay dry and therefore be protected from molding. This BlueSkin is quite sticky, so precision is key when laying it down!

Lifting the Window in Place

Now comes the moment we’ve been waiting for: lifting the window into place! It’s heavy, but with teamwork, we manage to get it secured. The view starts to come alive as we see the trees outside through the new window.
