How to Sharpen a Chainsaw

We started our day with a lesson on how to sharpen a chainsaw. It’s all about keeping the file level and going in the direction of the teeth. Just a little practice makes it easier! The rakers are important too; they control how much you’re cutting at once. This is all part of maintaining our tools because a sharp saw gets the job done faster.

The Ladies Move a Shed

Next, we took on the task of moving a tiny shed. It was a bit tricky, but with teamwork, we managed to get it done! Cheri was in the boat while Sam and Melodi grabbed all the bits and pieces. Were we nervous?  Nah… Girl Power is unbeatable — there’s nothing we can’t handle together. It felt great to accomplish this task as a group!

Then it was time to move a huge water tank. The girls had a blast figuring out how to get it from point A to point B. It was a bit chaotic, but they made it happen! The laughter and camaraderie made the hard work enjoyable. Plus, they were able to capture some great moments on video to share with everyone!

We Have Another New Road!

Girl power on the homestead - new road

One of the most exciting developments was the creation of a new road through our property. This has made it so much easier to access different areas of the homestead from the barge dock. Having a reliable path through the forest not only improves our access but also adds to the overall functionality of our island.

Deciding on Window Placement

Girl power on the homestead - window placement

As we built our tiny cabin, we had to decide on window placements to capture the stunning views. It’s an important choice that impacts the light and aesthetics of our space. After some thoughtful consideration, we decided to make the most of our beautiful surroundings. Our starter cabin will be bright and inviting!

Eating with a Spatula?

Girl power on the homestead - eating with spatula

After a long day of hard work, we gathered for a meal. With limited utensils, we found Uncle Kent using a spatula to spoon in his supper. It was a hilarious moment… we have so much fun hanging out together as a family, even in the simplest of situations. Sharing meals and laughter is what makes these experiences so memorable!

As we continue to work on our homestead, we are grateful for the help and support we receive from family and friends. The girl power on the homestead is truly inspiring, and it shows that with a little teamwork, we can accomplish anything we set our minds to!
