Levelling the Site
Today, we’re focusing on Cabin Build Site Prep by leveling the ground for future structures. Ryan is bringing in sand to create a stable foundation for the additional shed cabins. This will provide a cozy place for family when they visit. We aim to make this area not just functional but also beautiful, ensuring the sheds are situated with a great view of the lake.
Finishing the Job the Beaver Started
As we continue with our DIY Cabin Build, we find ourselves needing to finish a job that nature started. The area is filled with remnants of fallen trees and logs, which need to be cleared away. This process is all part of the plan to establish a safe and inviting space for future projects, including a walking path and solar lighting.

The transformation of the site is already remarkable! Clearing out the underbrush has opened up the area, allowing more sunlight to reach the ground. This is not only aesthetically pleasing but also beneficial for the remaining trees, giving them better access to nutrients and sunlight, which supports further growth.
The Mechanical Advantage
By cutting the stump at 4 feet, we have a mechanical advantage to effectively pull out stubborn stumps. But using ropes to pull the stump with Pepper proved hazardoud, so we brought in our stump planer. This tool makes the job far easier than typical methods, allowing us to work in tight spaces without causing too much disruption to the surrounding area. The precision offered by modern equipment cannot be overstated.
I Should Have Learned…
As we wrap up our Cabin Build Site Prep, we reflect on the lessons learned throughout this process. I should learn some better knots… and safety is paramount – especially when dealing with heavy machinery and falling trees. We emphasize the importance of planning and preparation before taking action, ensuring that every step is calculated and safe.
