Melodi assembles a quasi greenhouse?

Melodi assembling a greenhouse

As luck would have it, circumstances beyond our control prevented us from starting our garden this spring, as we had planned. But Melodi didn’t let that stop her– she built her own little greenhouse! She squealed with delight as she discovered a flower in the greenhouse, which symbolizes that fruit is on the way. It’s always a thrill to see nature at work, and this little “greenhouse” of hers is putting food on the table!

The most beautiful misty morning you’ll ever see

Misty morning view

One morning, Melodi captured a stunning display of mist rising from the lake. The beauty of this moment made us feel as if we were the only two people on the planet, enveloped in nature’s tranquility. This spectacle is unique to our island and serves as a reminder of the splendid rewards we witness each day. It’s moments like these that reinforce our love for off grid island life.

Going fishing, in our pajamas!

Fishing in pajamas

Yes, we went fishing again, but this time, it was in our pajamas! The day had passed quickly with chores around the cabin and as night drew near we decided to take the boat out. Living on our island allows us to make our own rules, and fishing in our pajamas is one of the perks! We shared laughs, enjoyed the serene lake, and kept an eye out for jumping fish. It was a delightful evening spent in the warmth of our cozy cabin life.

Loons

Family of loons

As we wrapped up our fishing trip, we spotted a family of loons. Melodi has always been captivated by the call of the common loon, and seeing them in their natural habitat was a dream come true. Did you know that 10% of all the loons on the continent live in the coastal and interior wetlands of British Columbia? We are so grateful for the beauty of wildlife surrounding us on our island.
