Picking Up Our Surprise
As we dive into our adventure, we remember that we have a surprise waiting for us! Excitement fills the air as we prepare to pick up some new pieces of equipment that will help us tremendously on our homestead. These pieces are essential for clearing raw land and moving materials around efficiently. We can’t wait to see how they will change our homestead life!
Meet Pepper!
Finally, we get to meet Pepper, our new homestead island hero! This 2023 Kubota SVL75-3 is not just any piece of machinery; it’s equipped with an air ride seat and all the updates we could ask for. Last season, we cleared land by hand, which was exhausting. Now, with Pepper, we anticipate making our work much easier and more enjoyable. We are excited to see how much more efficient off grid living will be with Pepper on our side!
Where is the Cabin?
As we approach our island, the excitement builds. We can hardly believe how close the cabin is to the water! It’s practically waterfront, and we are so grateful for the work we did last season to prepare it. The cabin has survived the winter well, and we can’t wait to start working on it again with our new equipment.
Did the Barge Survive the Winter?
We had some concerns about whether our barge would survive the harsh winter conditions. Thankfully, it’s in one piece! The ice has just melted off the lake, and although there’s some debris, everything looks good. We are thrilled to see that he hull wasn’t crushed by the lake ice. Our hard work last season has paid off, and now we can finally resume our homestead living this year!
Pepper’s First Job
With our Kubota SVL75-3 finally on the island, it’s time for Pepper to get to work. We start with unloading the hydraulic forks, which will be used to move the remaining pieces onto the barge. These forks are incredibly versatile and will help us with everything from moving pallets to lifting heavy materials. We can already see how much easier our tasks will be with Pepper’s help!
Sketchiest Barge Ride Ever
As we start to unload everything, we realize that our barge is a bit overloaded. We had to readjust the load several times to ensure everything is secure. The ride back to the island was definitely the sketchiest we’ve experienced yet! But we made it safely, and we are excited to dive into our projects this season.
As we reflect on our adventures, we feel grateful for the lessons learned and the opportunities ahead. With Pepper by our side, we are ready to tackle the tasks that await us on our homestead island.
