Tiny Cabin Solar Power is Setup and Running
Finally! Our Solar Power Setup for our Off Grid Tiny Cabin is running! We have a terrific solar power setup for our tiny cabin that we’d like to share with you. See how we mounted the inverter, connected the solar power panels, set up the battery rack, wired it all to the tiny cabin and then turned it on. It works great! We are so happy to be harnessing the sun and all it’s power.

Heading Back to the Island
As we head back to our little island, we can’t help but feel excited. This is Power Day, and we are ready to test our solar power setup. The solar panels have just been moved to a beach area that has emerged after the recent rains. We always find new land, and today, it’s time to see if our solar panels will work as we hoped!
Solar is Now Powering the Inverters
After a few days and a lot of anticipation, we finally turned on the inverter. We checked the voltage and were thrilled to see 120V of clean power coming through. It was a moment of triumph as we realized that everything inside is now running on solar. We were finally able to shut off the generator!
Moving the Battery Rack Into Place
With the inverter working, it was time to move the battery rack into place. Ryan had been outside fixing everything up and was ready to connect the batteries. This was one of the most exciting parts of our off-grid cabin build. We discussed how important it was to get everything right, as the batteries would need to be charged efficiently.
Adding Batteries to the Battery Rack
Once the battery rack was in place, we started adding the heavy batteries. Each battery weighs a lot, and together they will provide us with a total of 1200 amp-hours. This setup should be enough for our tiny cabin, which has modest energy needs. It’s empowering to see our off-grid solar system come together, and we can’t wait to see how it performs!
Turn the Lights On!
After connecting everything, it was time to turn on the lights for the first time. We walked into our tiny cabin and flipped the switch. The lights came on beautifully! This moment marked the end of our reliance on extension cords and the noisy generator. We finally have a proper solar power system inside our tiny cabin, allowing us to enjoy our space without the clutter of cords and the sound of the generator.
