Taking the Trees to Bird Island

We kicked off our day by loading the barge with 10,000 pounds of machinery. As you can imagine, navigating through harsh winds and unpredictable weather was quite the adventure! With our trusty truck, we began the process of hand-bombing supplies onto the barge. This is all part of our off grid equipment journey, as we work to build our island life.

Barging Over to Grab Supplies

Once we loaded up, it was time to head back to grab Pepper and pick up the big items on the trailer. The thrill of maneuvering the barge while ensuring everything stays intact is a unique experience. It’s moments like these that make the building off grid homes process feel truly rewarding.

Melodi Goes Solo

While Ryan took on the barge solo, I stayed behind to organize our supplies. Armed with new airtight food storage containers, I set about making our living space more efficient. Creating a cozy, organized cabin is essential for our off grid island life. Every small act contributes to the larger picture of our sustainable lifestyle.

This Should Make Things Easier!

One of the highlights of our day was testing out the new hydraulic boom lift. This homesteading equipment is a game changer! It can reach heights of 21 feet, making it perfect for lifting materials during construction projects. We can’t wait to see how this will help streamline our efforts as we build out our island homestead.

Stormy… Time for Plan B

Just as we were getting into our groove, a storm rolled in. We had to quickly adjust our plans and turn the barge around for safety. It’s moments like these that remind us of the unpredictability of off grid construction tools and the need to be prepared for anything.
