Foldable Electric Mountain Bike Review: The GOTRAX F5 Experience
We recently had the opportunity to test out the GOTRAX F5 foldable electric mountain bike, and let us tell you, it was an experience we were eager to dive into. We’ve been curious about electric bikes for a while now, and this one piqued our interest because of its foldable design and potential for tackling rough terrains in the woods. Unboxing the GOTRAX F5
Upon receiving our GOTRAX F5, we were excited to unbox this foldable mountain bike. It arrived nicely packaged and well protected. We were immediately impressed by the wide tires, which are crucial for the forested terrain we planned to ride on. The bike weighs a little over 67 lbs making it robust yet manageable. With a maximum weight capacity of 264 lbs it is built tough.
Assembly Process
Getting the bike ready was a breeze! The assembly process took just a couple of minutes. The bike came with a handy multi-tool, battery charger, and pedals. The quick-release mechanism made unfolding the bike easy, and we quickly attached the pedals. We also appreciated the reflectors for added safety during night rides.
Charging the Bike
The GOTRAX F5 features a 48V 13.6 amp lithium-ion battery that takes about 5 hours to fully charge. You can either remove the battery to charge it or plug it directly into the bike. We opted to charge it without removing the battery for convenience. It’s essential to keep the battery topped up every 4 to 6 weeks if not used regularly to maintain its health. Between charges, it has an all-electric range of 45km and a pedal assisted range of 72km!
Riding in the Woods
Finally, it was time for the moment we were waiting for—taking the GOTRAX F5 for a spin! This bike features three riding modes: Electric Assisted, Pedal Assisted, and Bicycle mode. The LED display is easy to read and informative. With the twist throttle and five levels of pedal assist, we found it incredibly easy to adjust our speed based on the terrain. The bike reached speeds of up to 32 km/h, and the wide tires provided fantastic stability over roots, uneven terrain, and rocks.
One of the standout features was the bike’s silent operation. We cruised through the trails without disturbing the local wildlife, which was a pleasant surprise. The dual disc brakes provided confidence while riding, ensuring smooth stops when needed.

Overall, our experience with the GOTRAX F5 foldable electric mountain bike has been overwhelmingly positive. It’s not only stylish but also functional, making it perfect for our outdoor lifestyle. The combination of comfort, performance, and ease of use makes this bike an excellent choice for anyone looking to explore rugged terrains without sacrificing convenience.
